About the Area
The Estero Pointe community is geographically centered between the City of Fort Myers and Village of Estero. Residents here will enjoy being able to conveniently access all that awaits in the greater community of Southwest Florida. And while so much attention is typically lavished on matters occurring in the larger metropolitan areas, San Carlos Park does have its own interesting history. That’s a story that begins with two brothers; Jules and Jack Freeman. Raised in that era of The Great Depression, the Freemans worked a variety of jobs to help support their family and pay for college, and after graduating from City College, went on to achieve professional successes in financial advising. They were essential to helping Aviation Pioneer Ed Daly who created World Airways, the enterprise that established America first coast-to-coast air service. The Freeman’s later went on to establish American Agronomics, a company not only responsible for establishing the pistachio industry in California and Israel, but also much of Southwest Florida’s citrus industry. In the 1950’s, for the ripe price of $9,600, the Freeman’s purchased 240 acres land in Southwest Florida. This was to be the first of developments where the Freeman’s resolved to create a community of affordable homes specifically beneficial to working-class families of the region. Today, this area is known as San Carlos Park, and while it has grown to encompass more than 2,000 acres complemented with schools, a commercial district, parks and municipal services, this area continues to provide home options significantly more affordable than that found in the larger metropolitan areas of Fort Myers or Naples.
